June 2nd: There is a time and place for everything

‘Give back to Caesar what belongs to Caesar-and to God what belongs to God’.

Mark 12:13-17

There are those who say that Christians should not be involved in things of this world. We are however, the light of the world so there appears to be a contradiction of sort. Perhaps it was in this contradiction the Pharisees expected Jesus to be caught by His answer.

However he was able to come out of it by showing on the coin the head of Caesar, and making the statement above. He differentiated that there is a place for Caesar and a place for God. That is precisely our calling: to be able to live a full human life and carry out our civic responsibility always in accordance with the will of God.

God has given us the ability to conquer the earth. Let us pray that He shows us how to always be obedient to His will, knowing that there is a place and time for everything, so that His kingdom will come.
