March 25th: Let us Listen as she did!

“Behold I am the handmaid of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word.”

Luke 1:26-38

Today we interrupt Lent’s strictness to celebrate the Annunciation: that moment when the Second Person of the Blessed Trinity took on human nature in a Virgin’s womb! It all happened when the Angel announced God’s message and Mary said “yes.’’
This year, as we celebrate, in the middle of the global pandemic, let’s make this a special day of praise and thanksgiving. It is the day that “the Word was made flesh and dwelt amongst us!” “God-is-with-us” We are not alone in this!
During this time, let’s learn to bend our wills, and say “yes” like Mary, and do what God is asking of us through our religious and civil leaders, even when we do not fully understand. Let us listen as she did, amidst the many competing voices.
Mary gave herself to God out of love. May God whisper to our hearts through the Holy Spirit or a chosen messenger, that even in this time of “social distancing,” we could still find creative ways to give of self for others.
