St Benedict’s Concert dissects “The Heart of a Man”

St Benedict’s College hosted its annual school concert on Tuesday, November 5 and Wednesday 6, ‘The Heart of a Man’ at the Naparima Bowl, San Fernando. The concert’s theme highlighted the manner in which society determines the role of a man and the emotional roller coaster a young man faces. This, with contributing factors, leads him to make life-altering decisions.

The story pivots on societal acceptance, peer pressure, love, and the emotions which emerge from being in a divorced family. The concert featured a cast of talented St Benedict’s College students and teachers under the direction of the school’s VAPA department, led by Jill-Ann Walters, Keegan Miguel and Kimberly Jones.

The concert was in aid of the school’s building fund for the refurbishment of infrastructure in the school. The concert also plays a key role in the grading of students in their end-of-term projects and exams, and provides an opportunity to train students in theatre and stage management, and production development.

The concert is set to take stage again in November 2020 with a new theme. St Benedict’s College placed 1st, 2nd, 5th, 9th and 10th in Music Unit 2 2019 Top performers in the Caribbean CXC Merit list, and 9th in Performing Arts –Drama.
