Help us build our Music Academy

The Trinidad and Tobago Youth Philharmonic (TTYP) Fundraising Concert ‘With a Christmas Heart’, will take place on Saturday, November 23 at 7.30 p.m. and Sunday, November 24 at 5.30 p.m., at the National Academy for the Performing Arts (NAPA).

This concert has a twofold purpose—it concludes TTYP’s 20th anniversary celebrations and serves to raise funds to complete the purchase of land that will house the TTYP’s very own Music Academy.

TTYP is the only youth symphony orchestra in Trinidad and Tobago, and the largest in the English-speaking Caribbean. Its premier music education programme caters for students ages 4–29 from all walks of life.

For Kenneth Listhrop, Music Director of the TTYP, “Our dream is to create the TTYP Music Academy and Performance Hall, which will provide the infrastructure to collaborate with music schools across the region, establishing children and youth symphony orchestras and preparing students for tertiary-level studies in the musical performing art”.

He urges you to help the TTYP build this dream by supporting youth development through music. For him, we can change the life of a child by placing an instrument in his/her hand.

We need your help! So come celebrate, ring in and get into the holiday and Christmas spirit, as the Trinidad and Tobago Youth Philharmonic, the Euangelion Singers and Band, Music Director Kenneth Listhrop and the Point Fortin Trinmar Community Choir, with Conductor Colville St Hilaire, feature some of the most delightful music of the Reason for the Season & the Love, Joy, and Peace of the Spirit, at the most wonderful time of the year.

Supporting this concert goes way beyond pure enjoyment as monies contributed through ticket sales will go towards the purchase of land in the Tunapuna/Piarco Regional Corporation, for the establishment of the Caribbean’s first music academy, the TTYP Music Academy.

With this in mind, we invite all music teachers, music students, primary and secondary schools, churches and the general public to attend in support of our youth, as we establish an orchestral tradition.

Concert tickets are available at the following locations:
