More story time with Keens-Douglas and Friends

This year’s annual Tim Tim Storytelling show ‘Story after Story, An Evening with Paul Keens-Douglas and Friends’ will take place at the National Academy for the Performing Arts on Sunday, October 20, 6.30 p.m. and promises to be one of fun, humour, poetry, social commentary and storytelling at its best.

Every year on this show, which was first produced in 1975, he focuses on recreating those magic moments of yesteryear, when we used to tell stories, talk to each other, and just enjoy each other’s company. It was in this telling and talking and listening that were the beginnings of the understanding.

It is also an opportunity for Keens-Douglas to do and preserve work that is not in our educational system, no longer heard in our media, ignored by our academics and being slowly lost to this new generation.

Every show features special guests and this year is no different, as Keens-Douglas will be sharing the stage with well-known storyteller Avion Crooks and star-performer Marcia Miranda.

An integral part of the Trinidad & Tobago and Caribbean literary and theatrical landscape for the past 42 years, Keens-Douglas has created his own niche, producing an outstanding body of work.

Known as ‘Tim Tim’, a name derived from the French-patois saying for ‘once upon a time’, Keens-Douglas has shared the stage on many occasions with his Jamaican counterpart ‘Miss Lou’ the famous Louise Bennet.

Only recently he contributed to the celebration of her 100th birthday anniversary in Jamaica, where storytelling and the vernacular are held in high esteem.

‘Story after Story, An Evening with Paul Keens-Douglas and Friends’ will be an evening of top quality, clean, family entertainment, ideal for teachers, students, literary enthusiasts and those Paul Keens-Douglas fans.

Tickets are only $250 and are available at Crosby’s, Cleve’s (Frederick Street), RIK- Gulf City/Trincity, and NAPA Box Office.
