A fire broke out in the computer room of Princes Town RC Thursday, September 26, at 11:55am.

There was a prompt response by school officials with students and staff evacuated within one minute to the nearby Holy Cross RC church. There were no casualties.

The Fire Services responded quickly and brought the fire under control but the computer room which is housed in the basement and second story classrooms were damaged.

An assessment will be undertaken of the building to determine whether the structural integrity has been compromised. The TT Electricity Commission disconnected the electrical supply.

Dr Lovell Francis, Minister of State in the Ministry of Education was on site and the Councillor for the area while the fire was being suppressed and extinguished.

Alternative accommodation will be sought for the Standard Four and Five pupils.

Principals in the district cluster visited the Principal of Princes Town RC and offered support.
