A Generation of Change

by Kristy Hamilton

Working together for a common cause has a tremendous impact on the environment and on the youth of tomorrow. Participants from the Our Lady of Mt Carmel, New Grant RC banded together to facilitate a mini-clean up of Mayaro beach on Saturday, August 10, 2019. The common theme was that of protecting our environment from all trash and pollution of which most collected were glass and plastic material that could have been recycled.

Not only is the pollution situation harming us, it is also affecting the animal life as well as the coral reefs. The participants from New Grant saw an opportunity to highlight and get rid of some of the pollution and draw youths closer together to ignite the spark of humanity that we may start once more to care for the things that sustain our life.

Awareness is key, and we have to find ways of bringing further awareness to our people. What better way of doing it than by utilising youth power. We wish to further impart on all readers the great impact of preservation and how it would benefit our future if we just Reuse, Reduce and Recycle.
