Bishop celebrates 30 years of priesthood

Bishop Lawrence Nicasio of Belize City- Belmopan celebrated 30 years of priesthood Sunday, June 16.

Bishop Nicasio was ordained a priest on June 16, 1989. He is the son of the late Rueben and Jane Nicasio and was born in Dangriga (southern Belize) September 5, 1956.

The diocesan website https://catholic.bz/ said that Bishop Nicasio is a graduate from Sacred Heart School in Dangriga, Austin High School, the defunct Belize Teacher’s College and Cardinal Glennon College in St Louis, Missouri where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree.

He completed theological studies at St Louis University in St Louis, Missouri attaining a Master of Divinity degree.

Bishop Nicasio celebrated his first Mass on Sunday, June 18, 1989 in Dangriga. His first assignment was on August 25, 1989 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish in Belmopan as Associate Pastor. He was ordained Bishop of Belize City & Belmopan on May 13, 2017.
