GRENADA
In commemoration of World Earth Day, April 30, the Sisters of the Sorrowful Mother (SSM), Catholic Students on the Move, the Environmental club and Laudato Si’ Generation of St Rose Modern Secondary School—a ministry of the SSM—planted eight bougainvillea plants at the school grounds as a “wonderful exercise to renew Mother Earth”.
The day’s activities included a World Earth Day Prayer Service conducted by Sr Delia Monrose SSM with students of the school. There was singing of ‘The Canticle of Creatures’ aided by students on the drum and sharing of scripture readings and reflections from Laudato Si’.
Prayers of intercessions were done, asking pardon for the pain all have caused to Mother Earth. At the end of each prayer students sang ‘Kyrie Eleison’.
Before planting, Srs Marie Louise Pierre SSM and Angela Mathlin SSM blessed the plants and holes. The holes were dug by Agriculture Science students of Form Four.
