Retro Bingo Bash*

From People of Praise Community

Based in the town of Arima, the People of Praise (PoP) Community is a Catholic charismatic ecclesial community comprising in excess of 200 active members. It is recognised by the Church as an Association of Christ Faithful and incorporated as a not-for-profit organisation under the laws of Trinidad and Tobago.

Currently in its 30th year of operation, the Community exists to foster goodwill through reaching out to others, especially youth and young adults in seminars, workshops, retreats, prayer, music with an emphasis on singing and pan, counselling, personal development and faith-formation programmes. The Community also has an active social outreach ministry.

Over the course of the past 25 years, PoP members have been visiting the inmates of the Youth Training Centre (YTC) in Arouca in addition to distributing hampers of food and clothing each month to needy persons and families in Arima and environs.

Over the period August 2016–July 2018, the Community served as the Administrator of the Toco/Matelot region to meet the spiritual and pastoral needs to the Church in that region.

On February 4 this year, House of Praise, the Community’s building suffered extensive damage when the tiles suddenly lifted from the floor in the hall area (approximately 3,600 sq ft). Since then, appeals have been made to members to raise funds.

In an attempt to further defray the cost of repairs, the People of Praise Community is hosting a fundraising ‘Retro Bingo Bash… wear something Retro’ on Sunday, May 5, 3–6 p.m. at House of Praise, Upper De Gannes Street, Arima. The event promises to be fun-filled for the entire family.

For more information or to make a financial contribution, please contact the PoP office at phone/fax (868) 667-1544 or email popraisett@gmail.com.  Office hours are 8.30 a.m. – 2.30 p.m.
