Holy Cross students help care for Matura Beach*

A group of students from Holy Cross College in Arima, their parents and a few teachers joined hundreds of volunteers at the Nature Seekers’ annual beach clean-up.

Every year, the NGO group Nature Seekers organises a beach clean-up in preparation for the leatherback turtle’s nesting season which runs from March – August

This exposure sensitised the boys to the importance of caring for the environment and volunteering.

Some group members interacted with Sr Julie Peters who visited from Rome to share on Laudato Si’, the Encyclical Letter of The Holy Father, Pope Francis. In that letter, the Holy Father states “Our natural environment is gravely damaged by our irresponsible behaviour.”

Kudos to the students of Holy Cross College for their commitment in preserving the environment for future generations and upholding the standards advanced by the Holy Father!
