Locals and visitors alike are in for the annual treat as the Talk Tent 2019 opens its doors at Queen’s Hall, St Ann’s from Friday, March 8 to Sunday 10. It will be three days of top quality humour, storytelling, spoken word, social commentary and thought-provoking entertainment.
Each year, the Talk Tent features well-known and up-and-coming artists as special guests. This year’s audience will enjoy the lyrics of popular spoken-word poet, Alexandra Stewart.
Talk Tent, ‘Where Talk is Art’, was first produced by orator Paul Keens-Douglas in 1983 and is the longest running talk show in Trinidad and Tobago. A popular and highly anticipated post-Carnival event, Talk Tent attracts a wide cross-section of local talk enthusiasts and many a visitor seeking something different and relevant.
Hosted by singing MC David Bereaux and featuring seasoned performers such as Miguel Browne, Farida Chapman, Felix Edinborough, Avion Crooks and Short Pants, all teachers and educators, patrons can look forward to the presentation of material that is not only entertaining but educational.
An unsponsored show, the Talk Tent depends on the support of its fans, supporters and those who recognise the importance of its role in preserving this genre of Caribbean culture.
Tickets for all shows are priced at $250 and are available at Cleve’s, Crosby’s, RIK Trincity/Gulf City and at Queen’s Hall Box Office. Books, CDs and DVDs of the various artistes will also be available at special show prices.
