Every day can be a COR day*

Participant K Williams shares on her COR (Christ Our Redeemer) retreat experience in the Penal Parish.

“As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of Faith.”—Gal 6:10

Over the weekend February 1–3, I had the opportunity to participate in COR.  Every moment of time I spent there was a stepping stone to inner transformation.  At the end of three fun-filled days, I was a new person.

This weekend helped me to understand that my purpose in the world is not for myself but for the other. Who is the ‘other’? The other may be family, friends, Church members, or even complete strangers.

We, as God’s children, form the body of Christ, thus we are to live as one and die to ourselves and our selfish desires for the sake of others. Full active participation in this retreat enabled me to uncover parts of myself I did not even know existed.

Spiritually, I learnt more about Christ and my faith, and was inspired to deepen my relationship with God. I also experienced Christ through His Word and especially through His people.

My experience during COR reminds me of the scripture verse which advises to always give of yourselves fully to the work of the Lord because labour in the Lord is not in vain (1 Cor 15:58).

Although some persons there were familiar faces, the majority were strangers to me. I was astonished by the outpouring of love by all those present, especially those from the ACT team.

Just their sacrificing an entire weekend to ensure the possibility of a life being touched amazed me. This inspired me to want to live for Christ and go out in mission to serve His people and to serve the Lord.  I was also inspired to use this weekend as a turning point in my life and go forward, living every day as if it is a COR day.

My fellow young people, active participation in this retreat will open doors in your life. I strongly encourage you to do this retreat. It certainly changed me and it has great potential to change you.
