AEC Plenary planned for May

The Bishops of the Antilles Episcopal Conference (AEC) Permanent Board met at the Seminary of St John Vianney and the Uganda Martyrs, Mt St Benedict, January 9–10 to discuss matters arising to the AEC and plan the way forward throughout the coming year.

Present at the two-day meeting were Bishop Gabriel Malzaire of Roseau, Dominica (President); Archbishop Jason Gordon (Vice-President); Bishop Gerard County of Kingstown, St Vincent and the Grenadines (Treasurer); Archbishop Robert Rivas of Castries, St Lucia; Archbishop Kenneth Richards of Kingston, Jamaica; Bishop Karel Choennie of Paramaribo, Suriname; Bishop Wesley Spiewak of the Diocese of Hamilton, Bermuda; AEC General Secretary Fr Donald Chambers; and Fr John Persaud, former AEC General Secretary.

Some of the items listed on the agenda were the upcoming Annual Plenary Meeting to be held in Cayenne, French Guiana from May 4–11, the Integrated Pastoral Communications Plan (IPCP) E-seminars and the AEC Mission Congress to be held in Port of Spain, September 19–22.

The Executive Board also discussed developing a mandate for retired Bishops in the AEC and an AEC Pastoral Plan—Gathering of Priests and Bishops 2019.
