The Dynamic Young Adults (DYA), a youth group hosted by the Corpus Christi RC Church, Laventille Morvant Pastoral Area, held their third ‘Seniors’ Day’ for the senior members of the parish, on December 2. In this edition, the young people hosted a Spa Day following their regular exercise session with the elderly.
Their clients were pampered with services such as manicures, pedicures, massages and facials.
Group leader Gerald Forbes and his core team of instructors spent a number of sessions with the young people on the lesson of responsibility—personal as well as social. The idea of having a Seniors’ Day developed in an attempt to exercise responsibility in one’s community.
“Young people and the elderly are the most neglected demographic in our community,” said one instructor. “Putting them together was the ideal way to teach this lesson.”
After their pampering, two parishioners expressed how much they enjoyed the third and final instalment for 2018, and that the group definitely left their best one for last. – story and photo by Kendell Worrell
