Youth learn about porn’s harmful effects

Coming out of the October 2016 Conference entitled: ‘Consider This: A National Conversation’ on the harmful effects of pornography on children, Fight the New Drug representatives were invited to the parishes of Our Lady of Lourdes, Maraval, and St Michael’s, Maracas, St Joseph for presentations on the effects of pornography.

At St Michael’s 50 confirmation candidates met on November 3. Many present said they had been exposed to porn both directly and indirectly but did not know the harm it causes. The class came to life with the fact that Trinidad and Tobago ranks high for most porn viewed per capita. Everyone left with a handout card on the effects of porn on the brain.

On November 17, 30 teens of the Maraval/Paramin Cluster attended the presentation. This session was very interactive with the youth asking questions and even sharing their shock at the information presented to them.
