Your greatest teacher is God, was the message delivered by Fr Emmanuel Pierre to students of Holy Faith Preparatory (St Bernadette’s), St Ann’s on September 13 at their annual opening Mass.

“Your principal, teachers and parents work very hard, but your greatest teacher is God. He wants us to be good people, respectful, hardworking and loving,” said Fr Pierre. He encouraged students to listen and obey God. “He has given us teachers and parents who we must also listen to.”

The Mass was quite interactive as Fr Pierre asked eager students a range of questions on respect and values. The congregation comprised St Bernadette’s student body from Junior Infants to Standard Five, their Principal Jasmin Mathura, Vice Principal Rosalie Jacob, teachers and parents. The students took an active role in the celebration as they said the intercessory prayers and assisted with the Presentation of Gifts.

The school has 11 commissioned altar servers who were quite focused on carrying out their tasks. The students sang angelically, ‘Look To The Polar Star’, which paid tribute to the Foundress of the Holy Faith Congregation, Margaret Aylward. — Tenisha Sylvester
