Navet chapel celebrates feast day

Fr Glyn Jemmott and the community of Navet celebrated its patronal feast day of the Holy Name of Mary , September 9 at the Navet Recreation Grounds.

The day commenced with the celebration of Holy Mass at 10 a.m. Members from the communities of Cushe, Ecclessville, Santa Rita and the parish of St Theresa, Rio Claro joined in this celebration.

Members congregated at the pavilion area as the altar stood on the green pastures. A beautiful image of Our Lady stood adorned and crowned with white lace and flowers.

Fr Jemmott in his homily reminded the community of their call and commitment to serve one another and serve Christ. He shared that the Church is facing some trials as priests and parishes are being attacked and the issue of security is now a pertinent one. He encouraged all present to stay faithful and to keep their eyes on Christ as they pray for protection and wisdom.

The choir sang Marian hymns lustily with the congregation joining in. After Mass, Fr Jemmott blessed the congregation and all the stalls. He later spent the entire day with his parishioners, joining the community as they celebrated. – Story and photo, Rosemarie Siewnarine
