Nuncio blesses CTC’s new centre

“A small community, but full of life!” These words were used to describe the Companions of the Transfigured Christ (CTC) by the Apostolic Nuncio, His Excellency Archbishop Fortunatus Nwachukwu at the end of the Mass with our community on June 9.^.

Thanks to the graciousness of the Cluny Sisters in Belmont, CTC was able to host their first Mass with the nuncio at the Providence Girls Catholic School’s chapel, followed by a reception at CTC community’s centre in Belmont.

In his homily, Archbishop Fortunatus reminded us about the importance of having good relationships whereby persons take responsibility for their actions and ask for forgiveness instead of becoming defensive and blaming God and each other. He also stressed on the importance of crying out to God for His help and mercy using Psalm 130 and the other six penitential psalms.

Finally, the archbishop made reference to three incidents in the gospel to help us better understand our call to become obedient like Christ, who acceded to his mother’s request.

The key to this obedience he said was Jesus’ relationship with Mary, and we in turn need strong relationships with God and each other in order to be good disciples. The archbishop also gave the community some “homework” so we could better integrate the message of the readings in the coming week.

After the celebration of the Eucharist, Archbishop Fortunatus and Msgr Julien Kaboré, counselor and deputy head of Mission at the Nunciature were hosted by the CTC family at our new centre. The nuncio blessed our centre and both he and Msgr Julien spent time chatting and laughing with our members.

Our community was happy for this opportunity to host His Excellency, and his challenge to continue being faithful to the transfigured Christ and His call on our lives. -Submitted by CTC
