Tea party and launch of Spirit Global

With tentacles in Tobago, Canada and the US, Spirit Global, a spiritual support movement aimed at helping men and women grow in relationship and intimacy with God was officially launched at The Lady Hochoy Home South, Gasparillo at their first annual tea party, June 9.

The work and the intended work of the organisation received the blessings of Archbishop Jason Gordon and the support of St Peter’s RC, Pointe-a- Pierre parish priest Fr Godfrey Stoute.

A wonderful, spirit-filled Saturday evening was had courtesy Founder and Spiritual Director, Jemma Allong-Redman, along with board members Occah Seepaul, Yvette Kong, Mary Saney and Sr Antoinette Fahey O Carm, manager/superintendent of The Home.

Inspiring talks were given by both Seepaul and Allong-Redman. Seepaul reminded those in attendance that they are sparks of God and they needed to nurture the God in them through prayer, retreats and other spiritual practices.

Allong-Redman spoke about the necessity of taking responsibility and being good stewards, not only through prayer, but by their words and actions: no complaining and condemning, but instead blessing this wonderful land that God gave us.

Guests were entertained by well-known violinist Anselm Walters; James Grannum and his gospel music; and a presentation by Rointra Hosein, member of the Adult Drama Ministry of the Southern Cluster.

Special thanks were given to the administrator for Spirit Global, Marsha John, and members of its prayer group; Zita Allong, mother of the founder; Peter Rodriguez, Jeremy Darmanie, Joy Seelochan, Pauline Dwarika, Ana Maria Aimey, photographer and emcee Dotsie Bacchus of Tobago.

Spirit Global seeks to lend prayer and spiritual support through various programmes and projects, help persons face the daily challenges of life and answer the deeper questions on God.

Spirit Global hosts weekly prayer meetings on Tuesdays at 7 p.m. and monthly lectures, retreats, pilgrimages, theatrical productions and special events.
