The winners of Catholic Media Services Limited’s (CAMSEL) ‘Win a Trip to Rome’ promotion officially received their prizes at a distribution ceremony at its Independence Square office last Wednesday.

The ceremony began at 11 a.m. in CAMSEL’s conference room with General Manager, Lucille Nathu, Marketing Officer Shervon Penco and Parish Desk Officer, Renee Smith presenting prize certificates to ‘Win a trip to Rome’ winner, Maureen Punch, Jocelyn Balkissoon, second place recipient of an all-inclusive trip to Punta Cana, from Amral’s Travel and third place winner of a trip to Tobago courtesy Kariwak Village, Rosanna Augustine.

Sita Gonzales, fourth place winner of a Classic European Facial courtesy Minu Paradiis was not in attendance.

The trio agreed that they were shocked and elated upon hearing the news when contacted via telephone by Penco.

Balkissoon shared that she plans on taking her eldest daughter, Natasha to Punta Cana while Punch, when asked what she is most excited about, replied “touching the soil in Rome and being in the same place with the head of the Catholic Church”.

Soft-spoken Augustine admitted that though she has visited Tobago “many times”, she looks forward to relaxing and not cooking.

The promotion, which began February 18 and ended April 6 drew over five thousand entries.

In a subsequent telephone interview, Pat Dillon, Amral’s General Manager said it was a pleasure supporting the Easter promotion adding the company will continue to further support CAMSEL initiatives.

A parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Church, Curepe, Dillon shared that the travel agency was “very impressed” with Penco’s presentation and did not want to miss the opportunity to reach new and existing clientele.

“It was really exciting. We have done things with the Catholic News before but we were very excited about this. It was a good investment in terms of being involved.”

Dillon mentioned that Amral’s offers religious tours around the world, including Rome, and non-religious tours throughout the year as well.

In delivering brief remarks, Nathu thanked the winners and sponsors for supporting the promotion. She also extended appreciation to every member of staff for their continued support. Penco expressed similar sentiments as he congratulated the winners and wished them an enjoyable trip. – KJ
