Legionaries renew commitment

A member of the Legion of Mary touches the vexillum legionis (Legion of Mary standard) and recites the prayer “I am all thine my queen, my mother and all that I have is thine” at this year’s Acies Mass on April 5 at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. Archbishop Jason Gordon was the main celebrant, Legion of Mary spiritual director Fr Pax Jey-Sharwan VC concelebrated.

Acies is the annual ceremony during which legionaries re-consecrate themselves to the Blessed Virgin Mary. It is usually held on or before March 25, the Solemnity of the Annunciation. However, whenever the Solemnity occurs during Holy Week, it is transferred to the Monday after the Second Sunday of Easter. March 25 was Palm Sunday so the Solemnity was celebrated April 9.
