On Friday, March 2, Fr Jason Boatswain and the Family Life Unit of Maloney Parish hosted a day of Prayer and Fast for Families at the Church of the Incarnation, Maloney Gardens. The theme for the day was Families Provide Prayer Support for Families.
Over the weekend of February 24–25, name cards were distributed on which parishioners wrote their family’s surname. These cards were then randomly circulated and families were encouraged to pray for the family’s name they received.
The day began at 6.30 a.m. with Deacon Cy Moore facilitating the exposition of the Blessed Sacrament. Family members from all three parish communities (Maloney, D’Abadie and Mausica) rotated as adoration before the Blessed Sacrament continued throughout the day. At 3 p.m. the Divine Mercy Chaplet was sung. Worship continued until the Blessed Sacrament was reposed at 6 p.m. Reflection of the Way of the Cross followed.
At 7 p.m., Mass was celebrated by Fr George Lewis ably assisted by Deacon Moore. A healing session of families followed as members of the prayer groups from the three communities assisted.
In keeping with the intentions of the Generation S’ Day of Prayer and Fasting for vocations, our youth and young adults were encouraged to do their part. They were allotted the prayer hour 10 – 11 p.m. where they prayed for vocations. The day ended with a celebration of praise and worship. – Marlene and Victor Bernard
