Beyond the Journey – a Christian Life Programme

Singles for Christ

My name is Sophia Dookie and I have had the privilege of growing up in a loving environment with both parents and two younger sisters. We have lived in Petit Valley for my entire life, and our family attends St Anthony’s RC Church. As a member of the Catholic faith, I attend Holy Mass every week which led to my First Holy Communion, and Confirmation.

While attending Mass over the years, I found myself questioning my faith and maybe wanting to know more. An opportunity presented itself when I attended a seminar hosted by Singles for Christ (SFC). The theme was Beyond the Journey.

This struck me because at that moment in life it expressed exactly how I felt towards my religion. I felt as though I wanted to learn more and know how I could be closer to God and go beyond what he had in store for me.

Throughout the sessions, I learnt that we are not alone and God is always with us in good times and in bad. I listened to the talks and engaged in conversation only to realise, that I was not alone on my journey. Some of the topics were inspiring, eye opening and comforting, not to mention the interactions with everyone I met during the seminar. At the end, I reflected and indeed it was not just a seminar but a journey which did not stop there but continues through my life.

I went on to join SFC which is a ministry of Couples for Christ, a lay apostolate that caters for every stage and age.

You can share in this opportunity at the next Christian Life Programme which is open to all adults whether single, married, divorced, separated or widowed. It will be held on four Sunday mornings: April 15, 22, 29, and May 6 at St John the Evangelist Parish Hall, cor Church Street and Diego Martin Main Road, 9 a.m.– 12.30 p.m. For information, contact the Taylors 632-2040 or Mabelle 749-2241
