‘Lenten Renaissance’ at Holy Name

Holy Name Convent Port of Spain hosts ‘A Lenten Renaissance’, a grand Lenten Concert on Saturday, March 17 at 7 p.m. at the school’s Marian Hall. This concert features some of the country’s best talent, all of whom are considered part of the Holy Name Convent family.

The diverse cast includes steelpan virtuoso Johann Chuckaree, renowned tenors Raymond Edwards and Nigel Floyd, Parang Queen Alicia Jaggasar of Los Alumnos de San Juan, veteran alternative and rock musician Nigel Rojas, and noted singer/songwriter and guitarist, Ian Joseph as well as the dynamic and talented Enrico Camejo.

Holy Name is also very proud to welcome back its alumni, the evergreen and indomitable Denyse Plummer, and exceptional soloists Candice Alcantara and Natasha Babwah Tim Kee to their home stage.

Patrons will also be treated to a rare appearance by past members of the beloved Goretti Group, which has provided the musical soundtrack for most of our lives with favourites such as ‘Hear O Lord’ and ‘Sing out my Soul’. The school’s choir and Parang group will also perform. The cast will be ably supported by producer and musician Jason Dasent.

A warm invitation goes out to past pupils and their parents. This is the perfect opportunity to catch up with former classmates, so we are calling on all past year groups to organise their year-group crews.

All proceeds go towards the construction of a new building for the school, the Sister Bernadette de la Bastide Wing housing the Sister Helen Gomes Auditorium. This new wing is a necessary addition to the school plant which has seen its needs far exceed the existing infrastructure. It will be named after two past administrators, Srs Bernadette and Helen, two legendary women of vision and impact whose legacy the school seeks to continue.

Tickets are priced at $200 and are available at the school or at Kitchen Corner Long Circular Mall. Please call 623-8168 for more information or check out the school’s website, Facebook page or e-mail  for further details. School memorabilia will also be on sale.
