Diocesan priests meet

The Association of Diocesan Priests of the Province of Port of Spain will host its Provincial meeting from Monday, February 5–Friday 9 at the Seminary of St John Vianney and the Uganda Martyrs.

The Province of Port of Spain comprises the Archdiocese of Port of Spain, and the Dioceses of Paramaribo, Suriname; Georgetown, Guyana; Bridgetown, Barbados; Kingstown, St Vincent and the Grenadines, and Willemstad, Curacao.

A major outcome of the meeting will be the election of a new executive committee as the Code of Canon Law requires a maximum of two terms for elected officers.

Among the presenters, Archbishop Jason Gordon will deliver a talk on New Ways of Being Church in a Digital Milieu—a pastoral letter from the Bishops of the Antilles Episcopal Conference.

The aims and objectives of the association:

  1. To deepen the spiritual life of the diocesan priests of the Province.
  2. To foster in a spirit of unity and effective collaboration; provide a source of mutual assistance in times of need and difficulties.
  3. To help develop in all members of the association a greater participation in the mission of Christ through collaboration of members and the laity in building the Kingdom of God in the Caribbean.
  4. To assist in their ongoing formation.
  5. To encourage a coordinated effort to foster vocations to the diocesan priesthood.
  6. To foster and promote a fraternal and pastoral relationship with other associations in the AEC and other collaborators in the work and mission of the Church in our region.
