Archbishop Emeritus to travel

Archbishop Emeritus Joseph Harris said after the Installation of Archbishop Jason Gordon he is “gone” but not for good. He revealed that he will not be in the country from January 15, 2018, as he plans to visit South America.

“I will come back for Carnival. I don’t think I should miss the local festivities. I like them. I believe in them, so I will be around for Carnival I hope, if I can get a flight back in,” he said in his final Ask the Archbishop live chat, December 13.

When he returns for Carnival, the Archbishop Emeritus will attend a retreat in St Vincent, and then visit Rome in April.

“I will probably be out of here [Trinidad] before Easter, go to visit my brother and spend some time with him. We getting old so the families like spending time together,” he said.

Next on his agenda, includes a trip to Paraguay, as a guest speaker for a meeting of the Holy Ghost Fathers working in Latin America. Archbishop Emeritus Harris was one of the founders of the Holy Ghost Missions in Paraguay in the 1960s.

He said that in his retirement, he will continue “talking and writing”. He will celebrate 50 years of priestly ordination July 14, 2018. – KJ
