The Trinidad & Tobago team to the 12th WESPA (World English Language Scrabble® Players Association) Youth Cup 2017, held last month in Malaysia has returned. Amanda Khan, 13, of the St Joseph’s Convent, St Joseph Scrabble Club – SJCSJ Scrabble Warriors – was a member of the team and performed well at what is called the Olympics of Scrabble. She was 5th out of 35 in the Under 14 category, and finished 28th out of 176 competitors.
Khan’s participation was made possible through contributions from local businesses, teachers, students (past and present), parents, family and friends. She was coached by members of the Spartans and Spartanites Scrabble Clubs. – Dr Anna-Maria Khan, supervising teacher (Game Social Club)
