Archbishop Joseph Harris consecrated a new marble altar at the St Joseph RC Church, Bonasse Village, Cedros, last Sunday, the first Sunday in Advent. In his remarks, he reminded the congregation that the consecration of an altar means that it is dedicated totally to Almighty God and is to be used only for that purpose.
The Archbishop stressed that the consecration of an altar is very important since it is on the altar that the Eucharist is made present and this Eucharist is food for the journey, giving courage and strength to be faithful and helping in the creative wait for the Lord.
He also touched on the significance of the season of Advent and the need to wait creatively.
Following the Mass, appreciation was shown by the parish to His Grace for his six years as Shepherd of this Archdiocese. The altar was donated by Clarke and Battoo Funeral Home. –Story and photo courtesy Dexter Mitchell
