Regulation is the method par excellence

Submission to UN WOOMB

The United Nations’ (UN) representatives of the World Organisation Ovulation Method Billings (WOOMB) International recently asked us to make a submission to the UN’s Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) 2018 Priority theme: Challenges and opportunities in achieving gender equality and the empowerment of rural women and girls.

They included the Review theme: Participation in and access of women to the media, and information and communications technologies and their impact on and use as an instrument for the advancement and empowerment of women.

According to the UN Women website, the CSW “is the principal global intergovernmental body exclusively dedicated to the promotion of gender equality and the empowerment of women. A functional commission of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), it was established by Council resolution 11(II) of 21 June 1946. The CSW is instrumental in promoting women’s rights, documenting the reality of women’s lives throughout the world, and shaping global standards on gender equality and the empowerment of women.” Below is our submission:

We at the Billings Ovulation Method Association of Trinidad and Tobago (BOMA-TT) have seen the benefit of women utilising communication technology in empowering themselves. Even in rural communities, women have been able to see our advertisements via Facebook and message us on Facebook or send us a WhatsApp message or call us. These women enquire about how to monitor their reproductive health or plan their families naturally using the Billings Ovulation Method which certainly empowers them to know what is happening with their reproductive system without having to spend money.

When a woman knows the four phases of her cycle very well, she can use the Method with her spouse or partner to plan and avoid/postpone pregnancy or achieve pregnancy. No drugs, no devices, no barriers needed, just plain old observation of the sensation and appearance of mucus on the exterior of her reproductive system. With the knowledge of the patterns of fertility and infertility that is unique to her, she can monitor her reproductive health. Any significant change would need investigation from a physician and she can pick up on this change often times much quicker than someone untrained in the Billings Ovulation Method.

The strength of this method, in a world where artificial, unnatural means are often marketed, is the simple, natural, psychological boost it can provide to women. This boost derives from the self-confidence in understanding the status of her reproductive health, to the control the couple has in planning their families.

A woman is happiest when her husband respects her feminine nature which has been so designed by God to bring forth life, the fruitful gift of their union. By co-operating with nature, learning the natural rhythms of her fertility she and her husband can decide together when is the best time to come together in total self-giving if their desire is to conceive or when to refrain from sexual intercourse if their intention is to avoid pregnancy.

The Billings Ovulation Method of Natural Fertility Regulation is the method par excellence for them to attain their goal. Nature is God’s plan. God’s plan is always best.
