The Diocese of Georgetown has launched an appeal for the faithful to extend help to the people of Dominica affected by Hurricane Maria.
Vicar General Terrence Montrose, acting head of the diocese in the absence of Bishop Francis Alleyne OSB who is in India, told the Catholic Standard that the first container of relief supplies is expected to be shipped on October 10.
He appealed for the following items be donated to the Brickdam Cathedral presbytery, Georgetown: tarpaulins; packaged rice and flour, canned foodstuffs, baby formula; bleach, disinfectant and cleaning supplies; toiletries (bath soap, toothbrushes and toothpaste, deodorant, baby diapers, sanitary napkins, baby wipes); bedroom and bathroom accessories such as bed sheets, pillow cases and towels; and monetary donations.
