Central Vicariate has a day of fun!

The millipede race.

There was a kaleidoscope of colour at the Presentation College, Chaguanas ground as parishes of  the Central Vicariate gathered for their first-ever Fun and Family Day on Sunday, August 6. The Vicariate comprises parishes in two clusters: Gran Couva/Tortuga/Gasparillo, and Chaguanas/Carapichaima/Couva.

The day began with a march past of representative teams dressed in red, orange, blue, green, and white jerseys. Team spirit and camaraderie continued throughout the event as members of Joyland Parties, Sports and Events had parishioners jumping, hopping, crawling, getting soaked and literally carrying each other across the finish line.

It was fun for the participants and spectators alike, including Frs Jose Thekkekutte, Derek Anton, Matthew d’Hereaux and Meenuga Prabhudas, and Deacon Simon Rostant. Several took short breaks from the games to partake in the various lunches and local delicacies available.

As the sun set, the Chaguanas parish lifted the first-place trophy. They also won the tug o’ war. The Gran Couva-Tabaquite parish placed second overall in the fun events. They also were victorious in the football competition which was held simultaneously with the games. In third place was the Tortuga parish while the parishes of Carapichaima and Couva placed fourth and fifth respectively
