Our Lady of Fatima once said, “More souls go to Hell because of sins of the flesh than for any other reason.” Approximately 100 years later and these words need to be repeated over and over again. Quotes from the message of Our Lady of Fatima will be reflected upon in this month’s article.
We are in a very sad time in history where sexual sin is commonplace, and where promiscuity, immodesty, adultery, homosexuality, pornography and the like have become accepted by many parts in our world. The entertainment industry continues to, either blatantly or subtly, spread this error.
Our Lady of Fatima appeared to little Jacinta, one of the three visionaries, several times and shared much with her including: “Certain fashions will be introduced that will offend Our Lord very much”; “Woe to women lacking in modesty”; “The Mother of God wants more virgin souls bound to the vow of chastity”; “Confession is a sacrament of mercy and we must confess with joy and trust”; “Tell everybody that God gives graces through the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Tell them to ask graces from her and that the Heart of Jesus wishes to be venerated together with the Immaculate Heart of Mary.”
Hell is real. Little Jacinta who was most affected by a vision of Hell said “Oh, Hell! Oh, Hell! Mother of God have pity on those who do not amend their lives….If men only know what awaits them in eternity, they would do everything in their power to change their lives.”
These are startling and frightening words. Are we really listening? Some have indeed heeded her call to pray the rosary daily, but many have not. Do we really want peace in our country and our world? That peace that we desire begins in our hearts. The rosary is a powerful weapon against the enemy who always tries to steal our peace.
In our ‘Is Love Forever?’ seminar we invite young Catholics to live a life of chastity, a life of pure love for oneself and all others who they come into relationships with. At Marriage Preparation classes, we have a discussion on what is the Billings Ovulation Method (BOM) and sometimes we include why the Catholic Church promotes the use of natural family planning methods like this one. Many are unaware of the dangers of using contraception, one of which could be the loss of their soul – this is not related to those who need to have surgeries, or to take hormones and the like for medical treatment.
The Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC) notes that the idea alone of deliberately contracepting or stopping one’s fertility without a just or valid reason is “intrinsically evil” (CCC 2370). After our discussion, many a time it is recommended that engaged couples start to pray the rosary. The rosary is truly a weapon against the enemy who tries to destroy family life every day.
The BOM tag line is ‘This Method is Love’. This Method truly promotes healthy, loving relationships, ones that Our Lord would be pleased with. Please help us spread the word.
