Youth Transforming the Caribbean Family

The sixth Antilles Episcopal Conference Youth Assembly (AECYA) will be held in Martinique July 10–23, 2018. The theme for next year’s AECYA is Youth Transforming the Caribbean Family.

As stated by the AEC Youth Commission, this forms part of a five-year plan for the renewal of family life in the Caribbean. The foundation for this plan was set at AECYA 2015. The Youth Assembly is held in the year before World Youth Day.

The Archdiocese of Port of Spain has been allotted 85 spaces, which will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. The Assembly is open to participants aged 16–35 and for the first time, each diocese is being encouraged to register at least one young married couple to be part of their delegation.

The package being offered by the Archdiocesan Youth Commission which includes the regional registration fee, airfare, ground transportation, insurance, accommodation, printed materials, food, shirts, contingency and spiritual preparation stands at an estimated cost of $7300.

PRAYER for AECYA 2018 MARTINIQUE

O God our Father, we worship and adore you.

We acknowledge your great wisdom,

and we desire to submit to your providential plan

in all our undertakings.

We thank you for the gift of families,

where the seeds of faith are sowed and nurtured.

Help us to recognise the beauty of human love, and the

important role of the family in sharing the gospel and

building a world of justice, peace and love.

Therefore, Merciful Lord,

by the grace of Your Holy Spirit,

help us to be humble and realistic

as we assess our Caribbean reality,

and seek effective ways to apply the Good News

to transform the Caribbean family.

We ask this in the Name of Jesus Christ,

our Lord and Saviour.

Amen.
