Tortuga launches website

The parish of Our Lady of Montserrat (OLM), Tortuga recently relaunched their parish website offering quick and easy access to essential information and features of the parish.

President of Our Lady of Montserrat Shrine Committee, Diane Bertrand has been instrumental to the website’s launch and makeover. She told the Catholic News a strategic plan for the parish was developed in 2010 and out of this plan was the idea of a website. Bertrand said the website was a medium where they could “get a global reach and let Our Lady be known throughout the world”.

Last year, both she and other members of the committee conceptualised the redesign of the parish website and felt it needed to elevate OLM in Tortuga to a status of an internationally acclaimed shrine.

“The committee and I wanted to communicate Our Lady’s love and motherliness to others in the hope they can experience her miracles. We were also able to hire new website developers who really understood how we felt about our parish and our Lady and we are very pleased with the execution,” said Bertrand.

The website became officially functional in April with a clean uncluttered design, improved functionality and enhanced content. The website offers to persons an opportunity to schedule visits to the Shrine, keep abreast of parish events, photo galleries and much more. Visitors to the site can also take a tour of the parish’s ‘Virtual Museum’ which gives an historical insight to the church and the OLM shrine.

Bertrand also commented that they are hoping to create a PayPal account so persons can make contributions to the development of the shrine wherever they are in the world. At present, information is located on the website if persons wish to make a donation via cheque or wire transfer.

OLM’s improved website can be found via www.ourladyofmontserrat.org.
