The Pastoral Cluster of Arima /Malabar held their first cluster assembly on March 4 to discuss the functioning of the cluster since its formation. The meeting was held at the Church of the Holy Spirit, Malabar.
The objectives were:
- To begin a process to determine the pastoral agenda for the Cluster going forward
- To encourage commitment, communication and collaboration among the communities
- To provide a platform for listening; therefore its goal was for everyone to have their voices heard
To achieve this goal, 350 participants of the eight communities were given an opportunity to have their say through community presentations, break-out groups and a suggestion box.
Presentations and discussions centred on the following six priority areas: evangelisation, liturgy, youth, communication, Catholic education and social ministries. Presenters were also encouraged to explore areas of collaboration among communities and groups within communities.
At present, ideas and suggestions from participants are being sorted and analysed and this data will be presented to the clergy team of the Cluster comprising Moderator Fr Steve Duncan, Fr Rosario Serrato and Deacon Paul Bousignac.
