New Vicar General |
Archbishop-elect Joseph Harris has been appointed Vicar General of the Archdiocese, in keeping with the requirements of canon 406, 1. In the July 11 memorandum advising the clergy, parish administrators, religious communities and department Heads of the appointment, Archbishop Gilbert thanked Monsignor Christian Pereira “for his persevering service” to Archbishop Anthony Pantin and himself. The Archbishop also noted that with the appointment of Msgr Jason Gordon as Bishop-elect of Bridgetown and Kingstown, the Office of Vicar for Administration was now vacant but that the appointment of a new Vicar for Administration has been deferred. Coadjutor Archbishop Harris will decide on this appointment when he assumes office on December 27, 2011. In the interim, jurisdiction of all Church departments falls under purview of the Office of the Archbishop. Archbishop Gilbert asked for the collaboration of all “so that the Archdiocese can meet its many responsibilities and in the spirit of the Archdiocesan Synod, continue to build a strong foundation for the Archdiocese.” |
