Earlier today, July 8, 2011, the Vatican announced that His Holiness, Pope Benedict XVI, appointed two priests who serve in the administration of the Archdiocese of Port of Spain to the office of Bishop:

1) Father Joseph Harris C.S.Sp. has been appointed Coadjutor Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Port of Spain. He will be ordained in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception on Wednesday, September 14, 2011.

2) Msgr. Jason Gordon has been appointed Bishop of the Diocese of Bridgetown in Barbados and of the Diocese of Kingstown in St. Vincent. He will be ordained on Wednesday, September 21, 2011 in the Cathedral of St. Patrick in Barbados. Soon after his ordination he will be installed in the Diocese of Kingstown in the Cathedral of the Assumption.

On this Friday, 8 July 2011, at 12:00 noon Rome time (6:00 am in Port of Spain), His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI is making the following appointments for the region of the AEC: Rev. Joseph Harris, CSSp, judicial vicar and vicar for clergy of the Archdiocese, as Coadjutor Archbishop of Port of Spain; Msgr. Charles Jason Gordon, vicar for administration of the Archdiocese, as Bishop of the dioceses of Bridgetown, Barbados and of Kingstown (SVG). The Diocese of Kingstown (SVG) passes from the ecclesiastical province of Castries to become a suffragan of the Metropolitan See of Port of Spain.
