The Archdiocese of Port of Spain joins with the rest of the nation in mourning the loss of a true patriot. Apart from his magnanimous political and social contributions over the decades, Sir Ellis Clarke established himself as a pillar of the local Roman Catholic community, contributing greatly on social justice issues and serving the Church in a variety of other ways.

Sir Ellis distinguished himself by his contributions in public life, bringing to that arena strong ethical values. He leaves an important legacy for future generations.

As the Archdiocese prays for the repose of the soul of Sir Ellis it extends deepest condolences to members of his family and trusts that God will provide them with strength in this period of bereavement.
