An issue has surfaced regarding the unauthorised use of the Synod logo. At its most recent meeting the Synod Implementation Team (SIT), after some discussion, decided that any parish, commission, community or individual desirous of using the logo in any form, must first obtain the permission of the SIT.

Potential users must also indicate the purpose for which it is to be used; the time-frame and any income expected from any venture using the logo. These details should be sent to the SIT at Archbishop’s House or e-mailed to ]]> ]]>This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ]]>.

Another important issue discussed at the meeting at Archbishop’s House on Friday, October 30 was the completion of the Parish Census. According to item #11 of the Parish Pastoral Plan, a parish family census has to be done. It is expected that it would be completed by all parishes during November and December.

As suggested in this space August 16, parishes are being asked to use the Arima model to complete the exercise, in which the execution was placed in the hands of the young people of the Confirmation class.

The census questionnaire requires answers to 15 questions, including recommendations from individual parishioners as to what methods can be used to assist the Church in moving forward. An appeal has also gone out for all parish priests to give their full support to the census project.

In a month’s time all parishes in the Archdiocese should have their Pastoral Plans completed and ready for presentation to Archbishop Gilbert during a special event at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception on December 8.

To ensure that this project is completed, the SIT is offering assistance to parishes that may find themselves with challenges in the preparation of the document. Meanwhile the training sessions for the vicariates continued last weekend with attendees from the Surburban Vicariate doing the three-hour session at the St Theresa’s Parish Hall in Malick. Facilitators were Ramona Khan and Shelley Enals. Earlier this week the session for the Northern Vicariate was held at Fatima College, Woodbrook.
