New Evangelisation is one of the three pastoral priorities identified at Synod 2009.

To ensure that this priority is given the importance it needs and deserves, the Evangelisation Commission has completed plans for a Regional Evangelisation Symposium on the weekend of September 12 and 13 at Crowne Plaza Hotel.

Four major presentations will be the highlight of the two-day programme. Msgr Michael Stewart, Rector of the Regional Seminary at Mount St Benedict will talk on “Evangelisation in the Caribbean, while Fr Arnold Francis’s theme will be “Theology of Mission”. Speaking on “New Evangelisation” will be Fr Urban Hudlin OP and Fr Joe Harris CSSp., will use as his theme “Go Out into the Whole World”.

Four workshops have been planned and all participants will have the opportunity to attend all of them They are -: Evangelisation Teams Formation and Recall; Alpha and Catholicism 201; Theology of the Body for Teens and Media and Communications.

One of the major aims of the symposium is to provide Parish Implementation Teams, Evangelisation Teams, Alpha and Catholicism 201 teams as well as team leaders in other parish ministries, the opportunity to explore fully the meaning of New Evangelisation.

While the Archdiocesan 2010 will pay much attention to this particular priority, the symposium will provide not only a means of thinking and planning for every parish as they deal with what it means to be Catholic, it will also give a greater sense of the three priorities set out by Synod 2009.

Registration forms are available at all parishes and members of the various implementations teams are urged to attend and take the opportunity to reflect, study and discuss the missionary mandate.

There will be morning and evening prayer on each day of the symposium, which will end with Holy Mass on Sunday afternoon.

Interested persons are asked to register early because there is no guarantee for “walk-ins”. More information can be had by calling the Evangelisation Commission at 671-0133 or 671-4177 or email ]]> ]]>This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ]]>
