Coordinator Gail Evelyn told the Corner the parish began its Implementation journey immediately after a seminar facilitated by Monsignor Allan Ventour on June 27. It was at this session attendees came to truly understand the importance of the role of the Parish Implementation Team (PIT) as it relates to achieving the Mission of the Church in Trinidad and Tobago. The first project was a detailed study of the March articles written by the Archbishop and published in the Catholic News. This was done initially among PIT members and later in meetings of the parish groups and ministries. On Monday, July 20, several leaders and alternates of parish groups/ministries held discussions on the articles, which proved to be a source of enlightenment and encouragement because it presented the opportunity for leaders to communicate both the positives and the negatives that existed in the parish. This was fully supported by parish priest Fr George Lewis who said that as a parish, they were pressing ahead together to achieve the mandate of Synod and the Mission of the Archdiocese. Discussions on the Parish Action Plan also generated a lot of interest and while a timeframe was set for one project, there was the feeling that at least two projects could be tackled simultaneously. The PIT meets every Monday night to prepare its Pastoral Plan by December. Another meeting for leaders and alternates has been carded for September 17 because as Mrs Evelyn puts it, “for parishioners to buy in to the theme ‘Called to be Catholic’, they must feel part of the process, which would encourage ownership and bring success in the accomplishment of the mission.” The Maloney Parish is made up of three communities – Maloney, D’Abadie and Mausica. ********* St Finbar’s Parish has almost completed selecting its Implementation Team. Head of the Synod Committee, Linda Besson informed Synod Corner there were still a few vacancies to be filled, but that will be done soon. New Evangelisation will be served by Gregory Scott of the Family Life Ministry and Ashvini Baball of the Youth Ministry, while Regenerating Spiritual and Moral Values will have the services of Patrick Jagessar of the Communication ministry and Marie Gurley of Social Justice. Only one person has been named to Revitalising Catholic Culture and Identity. She is Dixie Ann Harris of Stewardship. The parish representative is Karen Yet Ming of the Finance ministry.
